I have called New Hampshire home for just over ten years now. I hope to settle and begin my career as a nurse in this region when I graduate from the University of New Hampshire, where I am currently a senior in the nursing program.
My foremost goal is to be the best nurse I can be according to the second edition of Nursing's Social Policy Statement: to protect, promote, and optimize health and abilities, to prevent illness and injury, to alleviate suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocate the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. (p. 7)
I will do this by:
1) delivering equally optimal care to everyone, without bias, as though any ill will or negative emotions I may have are nonexistant. I will strive for my patients to never feel judged by me in any of my words or actions.
2) I will seek to give respect as I would like to be respected.
3) I will abide by the golden rule as much at work as in life.
4) I will try to make at least one person's life better everyday, by advocating for the best interests of my clients, listening to their feelings and needs, and empowinging them to live and care for themselves to the greatest extent possible.
